Civil War Search Stories!
We are going to do a cool online project today - Google Search Stories! These are a whole new way to compose a piece of writing online! I will show you an example of a search story, and then you will use the link below to make your own. We are NOT going to be uploading our stories to YouTube today, so you will not be able to save your story. BUT, they are fun and easy to make, and you can show everyone at home how to make one!

Civil War News!
Extra! Extra! Read all about it! The fourth graders are going back in time to report on the happenings of the Civil War.
Remember:
If you are the EDITOR of your group, it is your job to write an article about a battle, and an article about slavery.
If you are the HISTORIAN of your group, it is your job to write a biography of a key figure in the war, and to create a timeline with at least 10 events for your paper.
If you are the ILLUSTRATOR in your group, it is your job to draw two political cartoons, and write an article about a major even in the war.
Use the link below to get to your WebQuest - use the resources wisely, and take careful notes - we will be drafting our articles in class this week and next week!
Civil War WebQuest!
ATTENTION ILLUSTRATORS! Political cartoons are NOT just comic strips! They feature a current event of the day (topics might be slavery, the Underground Railroad, a certain battle, or a person). They show an author's opinion about that event or person. Look at some of the examples I have put below for you to see:
This cartoon shows how slavery tore the North and South in half, but it also shows the southern man as a poor farmer, and the northern man as a rich businessman - whose side do you think this is showing?
This cartoon shows how the North saw Lincoln's election, and how the South saw it - do you see the difference? The North saw it as a sign of coming peace, and teh South saw it as a cause for war!
